Does your troll need a spa treatment or maybe a little minor surgery?
Cleaning or Repairing an Older or Injured Troll:
You can remove the accumulated dust by blowing compressed air (a spray can that it used for
computers will often work), or by carefully vacuuming after a light brushing.
If they have been stored in a very damp area and some mold has developed,
you can treat the effected area with a mold killing spray like Lysol or other products of this type.
Troll body hair can then be combed with hair brush and clipped/trimmed with scissors
before allowing to completely air dry.
Please note:
Be careful using more than a light misting of water or water based spray around pine cones
(it will cause them to close up:)
If your troll has somehow picked up dirt or grime...
this requires a little more technique to make your troll presentable again!
Lightly spray with a cleaner like Windex and then wipe down with a damp cloth. For stubborn spots
you might have to apply cleaner and scrub with an old toothbrush before wiping down.
If something comes loose, is damaged, or is missing...
items like nuts, cones, seeds, etc., it can easily and quickly be re-glued using a hot melt glue gun,
or you can use a variety of other slower curing glues like Elmer's white glue, model cement, or epoxy.
Finished decorations can then be protected by spraying a Pledge type furniture spray wax, a
clear acrylic spray, or even regular hairspray. This can also make less visable any of the dust that you
were not able to remove. The sun over time will cause some fading, especially in the Albino Trolls.
30"and 60" Trolls have noses made from dried gourds. If these break you can sometimes
glue the pieces back together, or if no luck then a replacement can be found at places such
as craft supply stores.
