Our Tried and True Recipes
1. Start with one of our tried and true Troll Mountain recipes (if you use a favorite one of your own, make sure it’s suitable for cut-out cookies). Then thoroughly chill the mixed dough.
2. Lightly sprinkle flour over a clean flat surface. After adding a dusting of flour on dough and rolling pin, roll out the chilled dough to an even thickness.
3. Check rolled dough thickness with enclosed curled handle pick. It should be no thicker than the 1/4” mark near the pick tip (if any thicker, the dough will stick inside the cookie cutter). If small bits of dough clog the cutter, you can remove them with a toothpick or stiff dry brush. If it needs more cleaning, see TIPS below.
4. Set your baking sheets close by, then lightly dust the rolled out dough with flour, and dust the inside of the cookie cutter.
5. Firmly press the cookie cutter into the dough and slowly lift up. If you have the thickness right and have sprinkled enough flour, just separate it out from the surrounding dough using a spatula. Use the spatula to transfer the cut out troll cookie to the baking sheet.
Then bake the raw cookies according to directions, let cool, decorate them if you wish, and enjoy! And if you come up with your own great recipe or troll-like decorated cookie, please share it with us:)
TIPS:
Always clean cookie cutters after each baking session, using dish washing soap & water. Not recommended to clean in a dishwasher.
If cutter is extremely clogged with dough, it might need to be washed out with a stiff brush in soap & water. Just make sure it is completely dry and before using.
Our recipes can be adapted or changed to add spices and other substitutions for taste and diet, just remember that it needs to continue to be a low rising cookie in order for the troll details to show once baked.
